At 6 years old, SANDY WINARTA started learning classic piano.  He found his passion at 17 years old when he got interested in the sounds produced by drum.  He then studied music in Australian Institute of Music, Sydney, Australia in year 2000.
After graduated, Sandy returned to Indonesia to start his career as musician; recording and performing with both Indonesia and Global musicians for all genres.  In 2014, he received sholarship in New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Manhattan, NYC.  During this period he learned with some jazz legends like Reggie Workman (John Coltrane), Joe Martin (Gillad Hekselmann Trio, Chris Potter), Amir Ziv (Cyro Baptista, Billy Martin), Arman Donelian (Billy Harper), Charlie Persip (Dizzy Gillespie), Allison Miller (Kenny Baron, Dr. Lonnie Smith), Ben Allison (Steve Cardenas) and David Gibson (Count Basie Orchestra).

Sandy Winarta will play his original compositions and various original but different arrangement of standard jazz  with his Trio in FreedomsJazz Festival 2016 with simple concept ie. the combination from various influences of traditional American Jazz to modern jazz.
