ELFA ZULHAM QUARTET

Raised in a family with a musical background, Elfa Zulham (EZ) is an Indonesian native drummer who worked his way throughout different areas of the world. His unique style of drumming has a distinct style that is all his own and bringing new colors to the Indonesian Jazz scene today. He started playing drums at the age of 8, when his dad bought him a drum set for his birthday.  
  
EZ started his own project as a leader back in year 2008 while he study music in the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, The Netherlands. He received a full scholarship from the Netherlands Minister for Education, Culture and Science, which gave him the opportunity to do an exchange study in The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, USA.   He had studied Jazz drumming with Aksan Sjuman, Steve Alternberg, Joost Van Schaik, Owen Hart Jr, Ralph Peterson Jr, and had lesson from Ari Hoenig, Ali Jackson, Greg Hutchinson, Gene Jackson and Willie Jones III.  

Now he is starting his own Jazz Quartet with Jordy Waulauruw on Trumpet, Dennis Junio on Tenor Saxophone and Odi Purba on Double Bass.   Elfa Zulham Quartet will perform new arrangement of Jazz standard, covers and also his own original compositions.  This Quartet, EZ is going to bring a modern Jazz sound mixed with a touch of traditional Indonesian sound.
