Kevin Suwandhi

At the age of 18, he went to New York to study jazz at the New School and got a chance to study with Fransesca Tanskley, Jean Michel-Pilc, Kevin Hays, Chris Crocco, Ari Hoenig, Billy Harper, and etc and played with Doug Weiss, Cameron Brown (Art Blakey bass player), Johanes Weidenmueller, Ari Hoenig, Joe Martin, etc.

Kevin Suwandhi Double Trio consists of 2 bass player (Indra Gupta ac. bass and Barry Likumahuwa el. bass) and 2 drummers (Sandy Winarta and Grady Boanerges). It represents two sides of my life, one as a teenager who still like pop and R&B with the huge electric bass sound and one is my educational jazz music with the acoustic bass, said Kevin.  The vision of this project is to bridge the gap between electric jazz musician and acoustic jazz. His never-satisfied feeling proved by his interest and deepness of rhythm that he gets from Indian music, Balkan music, and Balinese music. This project is mostly Kevin's original song, and some popular song from the latest Pop artist but still in the jazz context.
